The book "No Safety in Numbers" by Dayna Lorentz is about these four main characters: Lexi the senators daughter, Ryan the jock, Shay the outcast and Marco the nerd. They are locked down in a mall when a biological bomb is discovered in the mall's air vents down in the parking garage.
In the beginning, Marco discovered the biological bomb when he was hiding in the broom closet from the jocks on his way to his job the "Grill and Shake" at the mall. When the authorities put the mall on lock down while the senator (Lexi's mother) is out with her family all control goes to the senator. With all hell breaking loose with riot's breaking out at the apple store where the senator is being housed and riot's breaking out at a store called paperclips where it turned into a temporary hospital for people who got in infected with this mysterious disease and gangs start to form to take over stores. With all this chaos erupting in the mall all four characters find themselves in the middle of this web of madness. Ryan is split between enjoying this freedom from the law with his friends or chasing after his dream girl Shay. But Shay has her own problems trying to find safety for her diabetic grandmother and her younger sister. Lexi tries to make the best of the situation by making new friends and trying to fit in. Marco tries to remain calm and does his work trying not to get infected but also spies on paperclips to see what he can learn about the virus.
In the end of the book one, the plot thickens and the situation gets worse and the infirmary gets destroyed in the riot nobody knows what to do. With so little policemen and over 4,000 civilians in the mall the senator panics to bring order to the mall. With many surprises and twists and turns along the way this is a book you never want to put down.
In your review, I noticed the way you explained the plot and how it changed through out the book. Plus, I enjoyed how you described all of the characters and how you began and ended your blog. The second paragraph was very informative and showed all of the conflicts that occurred in the book. Reading your blog, I learned about details and how to describe the changes from the beginning and to the end.
