According to
“A Success in
Space” by Cameron
Keady is about
how on November 12 a space
probe called “Philae”
successfully landed on
comet 67p. Something
that the author
wants me to
know is that
this comet landing
is the first
successful one in
history! The author
also wants me
to know that
the space probe
was launched from
the spacecraft Rosetta,
which was first
put into action
in 2004 by
the European Space Agency
to observe comets. In
2011, Rosetta was
powered down to
conserve energy, then
brought back to
life for the
probe landing. The
overall main idea
of the text
is that this
probe landing starts
a new age
in space exploration.
One example
that shows this
is, in the
article it states
“A small probe helped
scientists take a big step forward
in space exploration.” And
also stated “This mission
could give researchers valuable information about the
origins of our solar system
and how it evolved.” The
author wants me
to know that
the author is
very happy that
the probe has
landed on the
comet. Another example,
is that the
article states “Despite any initial
concerns, the team
is in good spirits—and
so is Philae.
On the night of
its arrival, the lander
tweeted a photo to its mother ship
@ESA_Rosetta. “The view
is absolutely breathtaking ESA_Rosetta! Unlike anything
I've ever seen
#CometLanding,” the tweet
read.”
This quote is
a little bias
because the author
interprets that the
team of the
probe is in
good spirits but
from his perspectives.
We don’t know
if the team
is happy because
we don’t have a certain quote
from the head
of the team. After reading
this article, I
have recognized that
this article has
made me wonder
what this probe
will discover. I
would really like
to research this
after the probe
comes back to
earth. This has
opened a wider
range of new discoveries
of the universe
and has raised
a lot of
questions just like
when man first
landed on the
moon.
